Asha Bhonsle is an Indian playback singer born on 8 September, 1933. She is a very popular singer of Indian cinema. She has a wider repertoire than merely being a playback singer. She is also known as the sister of very popular Lata Mangeskar and wife of super successful music composer late R.D.Burman. Asha Bhonsle started her career in 1943. Apart from singing for movies she has also recorded several private albums and performs in live shows and concerts. She sings ghazals, bhajans, and film music, pop songs, classical, folk songs etc.
Till 2006, she has sung more than 12,000 songs for which she has been acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records. A classical song in the movie ‘Naya Daur’ penned by Sahir Ludhianvi and compsed by B.R.Chopra became hit. The song earned her recognition and fame.
